To get web space, there are generally two steps: find a provider, and sign up for an account. There are many FREE hosting providers out there, but if you want the most services and reliability, you probably should consider a commercial hosting provider. If you have a dial-up internet access provider, they may very well provide you with some web space as part of your account. If not, they probably would be willing to give you some for a monthly fee. Free Business HostingFor Free Business Hosting, I recommend Hypermart. They provide 5 Megabytes of web space, FTP upload, the FrontPage Server Extensions, custom CGI support, Server-Side-Includes, and more. They have options for upgrading your account to more space, no banners, etc.
Once you choose a provider, go to their web site and sign up for an account. They generally let you specify a username and password, and require some personal information, such as name, phone number, mailing address, etc. Since they are free services, they should not require a credit card number unless you specifically sign up for a non-free service. Some require an email address. On their pages, there should be information on how to upload pages. The key pieces of information that you need to know for the next section are your username, password, and the address of the FTP server.
